Term 2, Week 2
Welcome back to Term 2
It was wonderful to welcome students back, sharing their holiday stories and showing enthusiasm for the new term. We have already launched into Term 2 with an exciting start, with our Year 5/6 students enjoying a rich learning experience at the Migration Museum and the Central Markets, while our Reception students explored the outdoors at Morialta Conservation Park. We also took time to celebrate and show appreciation for the important women in our lives by hosting a heartfelt Mother’s Day breakfast and liturgy for our mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and special guests.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to continue the term with upcoming highlights including our sporting carnivals, National Simultaneous Storytime, Reconciliation Week, and Water Safety Week.
Vale Pope Francis
It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Pope Francis. We give thanks for his life of service, his dedication to interfaith dialogue, and his unwavering compassion for the poor, the marginalised, and the vulnerable across the world.
We pray for his successor, Pope Leo XIV, and that his first words—“Peace be with you”—resound throughout his ministry and inspire unity, hope, and peace.
Catholic Education Week and Principal’s Tour
In Week 3, we will celebrate Catholic Education Week—a time to reflect on and honour what makes our community shine.
As part of the celebrations, a Principal’s Tour will be held on Wednesday 14th May for families considering enrolment for Term 3 Receptions. If you know someone with a child turning five between 1 May 2025 and 31 October 2025, they may be eligible to start school at St Brigid’s in Term 3.
We’re also pleased to share that school fees will be waived for Terms 3 and 4 for children starting Reception mid-year. These students will complete a minimum of six terms in Reception, providing a strong foundation for their learning journey.
Please spread the word—enrolments for mid-year 2025 are now open!
2026 Enrolments Now Open
We are now accepting enrolments for the start of the 2026 school year. Children who turn five between 1 November 2025 and 30 April 2026 are eligible to begin school in Term 1, 2026.
To register your interest, book a Principal’s Tour, or arrange an enrolment interview, please contact Felicity in the Front Office.
Families with children enrolled for 2026 are also invited to join our Flourishing Hearts Transition Programme, beginning in Term 3. This free program runs on Fridays and is designed to help preschoolers feel confident and connected as they prepare to start school.
For more information, please get in touch with Felicity.
Uniform
As we move into the cooler Autumn and Winter months—despite the current fine weather—we’ve noticed an increase in students wearing non–St Brigid’s uniform items. In the coming weeks, we will be reviewing our uniform policy with the aim of ensuring that all students are in full St Brigid’s uniform by the end of this term. We appreciate your support in helping maintain a strong sense of school pride and community through our uniform.
Building Update
During the recent pupil-free day, staff had the opportunity to visit the classrooms and the former canteen space, both currently undergoing renovation. It was exciting to see the progress and the improvements taking shape.
Students currently learning in the Candler Unit are especially looking forward to moving into their new classroom spaces, which are expected to be ready by the end of Term 2.
We can’t wait to see these fresh, modern spaces in use as we continue to enhance our learning environment.
Yours in love, peace and learning,

Positive Behaviour Initiative: Encouraging Our School Values
We are excited to share with you our new Positive Behaviour initiative, which you may have seen in a recent Seesaw video or heard about from your child bringing home a Positive Behaviour certificate. This initiative is closely tied to our school's core values: Love, Peace, and Learning.
Each week, every class will select one or two students who have exemplified these values. These students will receive a Positive Behaviour certificate and earn a sticker for our values poster. Once a values poster is filled, the entire school will enjoy a special reward:
Love Poster: Casual Clothes Day
Peace Poster: Pyjama Day
Learning Poster: Movie Day
This initiative is designed to foster a sense of community and collective achievement. Later in the term and year, students who have earned multiple certificates or demonstrated all three values will be honoured with a special Heart Person Award during assembly.
We encourage you to support your child in striving for these certificates by demonstrating our school values. If your child receives a certificate, please congratulate them and motivate them to aim for another. Congratulations on the students who were the first in the school to receive a certificate last week!
Thank you for your continued support in making our school a positive and nurturing environment for all students.
Water Safety Week – Coming up in Week 7!
We are thrilled to announce that Water Safety Week has been rescheduled to Term 2 this year. Mark your calendars for Week 7, from Tuesday, June 10th to Friday, June 13th.
In addition to the new dates, we are also changing venues. This year, our Water Safety lessons will take place at the Thebarton Aquatic Centre in Torrensville. This fantastic facility will provide an excellent environment for our students to learn and practice essential water safety skills.
Please keep an eye out for the forms, which will be sent out next week. We look forward to a fun and educational Water Safety Week!

OLSH Pillars
This term, our OLSH Pillar focus is: We are Heart People who are faith-filled in love.
We believe in God's love for us. This gives us meaning and purpose in our lives and enables us to help others find meaning in their lives too. This pillar emphasizes the importance of personal faith and the belief in God's love. It values the Incarnation (Jesus becoming human), prayer, Catholic tradition, and involvement in the wider church community.
Remembering Pope Francis
As you may be aware, the world is mourning the passing of Pope Francis, who died at the age of 88. In the early hours of Easter Monday, at 7:30am Rome time, Pope Francis entered the eternal embrace of the God he served so faithfully. His passing, during this season of Easter, is a poignant reminder of the hope and joy of the Resurrection — a message he proclaimed throughout his life.
In his final public appearance on Easter Sunday, Pope Francis addressed the faithful gathered in St Peter’s Square, offering his blessing with his characteristic warmth and gentleness. His presence that day brought joy, peace, and a sense of calm to all who witnessed it — a fitting farewell from a man who spent his life bringing hope and comfort to others.
“He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” — Micah 6:8
This scripture beautifully reflects the way Pope Francis lived his life. Justice, compassion, and humility were at the heart of his ministry and his message to the world.
As a community, we give thanks for his life and leadership. We remember his deep care for the poor, his advocacy for peace, and his unwavering call for all of us to treat one another with kindness and dignity.
We invite you to join us in prayer:
Loving God,
We thank you for the life and witness of Pope Francis. His example of humility, compassion, and faith has inspired people across the world. Welcome him into your eternal peace, and help us to carry forward his legacy — living with courage, love, and hope in our own lives.
Amen.
Fr Selva Silver Jubilee
On a joyful evening filled with gratitude and blessing, our parish came together to celebrate the silver Jubilee of Fr Selva’s priestly ordination. Joined by 15 priests, Fr Selva led a solemn, moving Mass. The celebration was enriched by the uplifting music of the Fili Harmonics Choir, whose melodious voices brought a deep sense of joy and reverence to the liturgy. The church was filled with parishioners, nuns, schools teachers, principals and visiting families, all gathered to honour Fr. Selva’s 25 years of dedicated ministry. It was a night that reflected his commitment, love and service to God and His people. Following the Mass, there was a scrumptious spread and time for fellowship, where heartfelt thanks were shared and memories celebrated. Fr. Selva extends his gratitude to all who attended and everyone who helped make this a spirit-filled and memorable day.

Children's Liturgy
The next Children’s Liturgy of the Word will begin at St Brigid’s Church on Sunday 11th May
Children's liturgy is a wonderful way for the children to have a better understanding of the Gospel of the day’s Liturgy and grow in appreciating the structure and the richness of the liturgy of the word section of the Mass.

Our Year 5/6 classes recently visited the Migration Museum and Adelaide Central Market for a fun and meaningful day of learning.
At the Migration Museum, we explored how the City of Adelaide has changed over time and learned about the impact of colonisation on the Kaurna people. The students reflected on the city’s history and imagined what it could look like in the future. Using recycled materials, they created a collaborative artwork showing our shared vision for a better, more sustainable city.
We then walked to the Central Market, where we explored how migration has shaped the foods and cultures we see today. Students researched different cuisines, talked to stallholders, and discovered the amazing diversity within our city.
It was a fantastic day of learning, creativity, and connection!

Welcome to a New Year at OSHC!
We’re excited to welcome back our OSHC families and say hello to all our new children and parents. Term 1 has been a fun and busy start to the year, with lots of activities, creativity, and learning through play.
We’re excited to welcome back our OSHC families and say hello to all our new children and parents. Term 1 has been a fun and busy start to the year, with lots of activities, creativity, and new constructions of our school.
Monday:
With the nice weather, the children wanted to use the sandpit where they built sandcastles and villages. It was amazing to see the children build castles and use the resources around them to add elements such as grass and flowers. Some made them by themselves, while others made them together (Learning Outcome 4.1).
Tuesday:
We wanted to emphasise kindness in OSHC, so as a group, we discussed things we could do to be kind. On a sticky note, the children suggested their ideas on what they could do to be kind in OSHC. Once they were done, they could stick it on the board to show (Learning Outcome 3.1, 1.4). As the recognise these actions, they can prompt how they interact with others, especially in OSHC.
Wednesday:
We spent most of the time outside enjoying the nice weather. Some children wanted to continue or start making sandcastles in the sandpit (Learning Outcome 2.1,1.1,4.1), while others played baseball made from resources in the OSHC room, such as scrunched paper wrapped in masking tape and a tube (Learning Outcome 3.1, 4.4)
Thursday and Friday
Outdoor Play: The kids enjoyed plenty of time outdoors with group games, obstacle sand, and water play during outside play. Did a drawing challenges, encouraging problem-solving confidence and teamwork
Mother’s Day celebration
- Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity – Expressed love and appreciation for their mothers, showing pride in their creations.
- Outcome 3: Children have a strong sense of wellbeing – Displayed confidence and concentration in making meaningful gifts.
- Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners – Used creativity and problem-solving to bring their ideas to life.
- Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators – Shared stories about their families and expressed feelings through art and writing.
This activity provided a meaningful opportunity for the children to reflect on and express gratitude for their caregivers. It also promoted fine motor skills, creativity, and emotional development. Future activities could include more open-ended opportunities for children to share family stories or traditions.
Reminders for Families
- Bookings: Please ensure Term 2 bookings are confirmed via the app or OSHC contact number 0448830652
- Hats & Sunscreen: Still required for outdoor play.
- Feedback Welcome: Let us know how we can improve or what your child would love to see more of!
We are so proud of the positive, caring environment the children help create every day. Thank you for your ongoing support — we look forward to another great term ahead!
In your in love, peace and learning,

Dear School Community,
We know that many students and families visit Enfield Library, so we wanted to share an update about upcoming works at the library.
From Monday 19 May, Enfield Library will be temporarily closed while we upgrade the staff workroom facilities. The closure is expected to last around six weeks, with the library reopening on Tuesday 1 July.
During this time, library services are available at all other PAE Libraries and holds can be collected from Greenacres Library.
Thanks for helping us share this with your school community.
Kind regards,
