St Brigid's School is a proud partner of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program – which sees our students enthusiastically get their hands dirty learning how to grow, harvest, prepare and share fresh, seasonal food.
Established by renowned cook and food writer Stephanie Alexander, the program is based on the philosophy that positive and memorable food experiences can form positive lifelong eating habits. It does this by setting a good example and engaging children’s curiosity, along with their energy and taste buds.
As participants in the Kitchen Garden Program, our students spend structured time in a productive vegetable garden and home-style kitchen as part of their everyday school experience. There they learn skills that will last them a lifetime, and discover just how much fun it is to grow and cook their own seasonal vegetables and fruits.
